Day 2

Fair-trade, organic, cacao beans. Sourced from Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire (which supplies 43% of the world's cacao supply), Madagascar, Venezuela & everywhere else that Theo Chocolates can build relationships with socially & environmentally aware farmers. Currently, less than 1% of chocolate we can buy is certified fair-trade & organic. This local company is one of 12 chocolate producers in the US - and the only one that carries this dual certification.

The best part? Happiness through endorphin release (I had more than a dozen samples of their wares. Felt damn ecstatic). Better yet, cacao contains one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants of any food in the world. That simple. Here they lie dormant in plastic yellow barrels, twice-roasted, patiently awaiting their awakening into delectable treats. How fortunate am I that they rest only six blocks from my house?
